Advocates for Children of New York (New York City) is one of 3 Parent Training and Information Centers (PTIs) serving New York City. The PTI provides provides training and assistance to families of children with disabilities. Funding for the Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) is through the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Parent Network of WNY is a Community Parent Resource Center (CPRC). CPRCs provide training and assistance to the families of children with disabilities. Funding for Community Parent Resource Centers is through the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

There are 13 Special Education Parent Centers across New York State. These centers provide parents of children with disabilities with information, resources, and strategies to:
• promote meaningful parent involvement in their children's education programs;
• provide information regarding the special education process (referrals, individual evaluations and individualized education program development and transition planning);
• assist in understanding procedural due process rights, including the right to impartial hearings and appeals and the State complaint process.
